Zalman Schapiro, Esq.

Managing Partner

Zalman combines rich legal experience and business acumen with his ability to see the broader picture in guiding and directing clients through successful transactions. Clients rely on his deep understanding of involved complexities and cost-effective resourcefulness in getting the deal done.

Prior to joining Schapiro Law, Zalman spent several years working as general counsel for a healthcare company. He also worked in private practice, practicing general corporate, healthcare and business law, as well as general commercial transactions.

Zalman has and continues to devote considerable time to pro bono representation and civic involvement, representing several non-profits in a variety of matters and he is deeply involved in his local synagogue.

Zalman received his JD, cum laude from the Florida Coastal School of Law where he authored and published several journal articles and was active in several student organizations.

Zalman is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Andrew Garbacz, Esq.

Partner

Andrew’s reputation as an exceptional communicator, strategic thinker and quarterback of complex processes with many fast-paced moving parts is part of the proud Schapiro Law legacy.

Prior to joining Schapiro Law, he served as general counsel to a national investment and asset management firm whose core focus and proprietary knowledge was fixed on ownership and oversight of SF and other facility operations.

Andrew received his JD cum laude from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and his M.S. in Accounting from W. Paul Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University.

Andrew is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.

Eli Zlotowitz, Esq.

Associate

As an associate at Schapiro Law, Eli incorporates exceptional drafting skills and attention to detail to further the firm’s premium service and scrutiny of each matter.

Eli received his JD cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. At Cardozo, Eli received the James Lewis Award for outstanding achievement in the field of tax law. Eli is currently admitted to practice in New York and Texas.

Ellesha LeCluyse, Esq.

Counsel

Ellesha combines her vast experience navigating the ups and downs of healthcare compliance with her creative transactional problem-solving skills. She has earned a stellar reputation in providing strategic and efficient counsel to unique and innovative clients in the healthcare field, including long-term care facilities, medical and dental practices and home health providers.

Ellesha guides clients through change of ownership transactions from the LOI stages, to surviving closing, and beyond, and helps clients comply with complex state and federal compliance laws-including the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the False Claims Act, and HIPAA-while still maximizing the success of their operations. While she’s not scanning the federal register, Ellesha also advises all business types on commercial contracting and other corporate and general counsel-type matters and provides a perspective on day-to-day operational matters.

Prior to joining Schapiro Law, Ellesha was a Healthcare Associate at nationally recognized Ohio based law firms.

Ellesha received her JD cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law with a concentration in Healthcare Law.

Ellesha is admitted to practice in Ohio.

Kevin Chait, Esq.

Counsel

Kevin Chait focuses his practice on representing private lenders, private equity funds and private companies in a wide array of commercial finance transactions, including asset-based lending transactions, syndicated transactions, real estate transactions, and acquisition financing transactions.

Kevin also represents private companies on complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, post-acquisition integration matters, and corporate governance matters.

Before joining Schapiro Law, Kevin worked in-house at a private bridge lending company and a boutique real estate and commercial transactions law firm.

Kevin is admitted to practice in New York.

Yael Grunspan, Esq.

Associate

Yael leverages over ten years of multifaceted experience in law, program management, labor relations and human resources to creatively solve tough challenges that impede business growth and innovation. Regarded as a trusted advisor and action-oriented collaborator, she works closely with clients across diverse industries to identify and execute on strategic opportunities that enhance operational efficiency.

Prior to joining Schapiro Law, Yael spent eight years leading program strategy for a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization providing critical services, including oversight of resources, to underserved communities in New York City. Additionally, she directed their grant application processes, maintained federal and state funding, and worked closely with unions to steer collective bargaining negotiations, arbitration, and relationship building/management. Earlier in her career, Yael served as an Associate specializing in divorce/family law and real estate.

Yael received her JD from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.

Yael is admitted to practice in New York.

Esther Greenbaum, Esq.

Associate

Esther is committed to working with clients to accomplish and overcome any challenges they may face, with the client’s best interest as her driving force. 

Prior to joining Schapiro Law, Esther was an Associate in a firm specializing in Divorce and Family Law, where she drafted comprehensive motions, petitions, and memoranda. With her skills, Esther effortlessly guided her clients through crucial and intense litigation.  Esther’s work experience has honed her skills to master details and her ability to make each client feel secure in their legal counsel. 

Esther received her JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her BA cum laude from Brooklyn College.

D. Max Friedman, Esq.

Of Counsel

Max Friedman focuses his practice advising small and medium size businesses in real estate transactions, commercial leasing, general corporate and business law, and commercial litigation.  In addition to his position as Of Counsel at Schapiro Law, Max is a  Founder and Managing Attorney of a boutique corporate and real estate law firm in Plano, Texas

After earning a bachelor’s degree cum laude from The American University in Washington, DC, Max received his law degree from The Rutgers-Camden law school. In law school, Max was a finalist in the Hunter Moot Court Competition and was honored as a Dean’s Scholar—placing him among the school’s top 5% students.

Max is licensed to practice in Texas, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
